This wine is intensely dark red, shading into ink. The smell is dominated by black currants, paprika, and poppy. The taste is imbued with tones of chocolate and berry fruits.
This variety originated in 1950 in Ukraine as a crossbreed between the Alicante Bouchet and Cabernet Sauvignon breeds. Its name was coined by combining the names of its parents into one. The grapes from which this wine was made came from Central Slovakia vineyard area from the vineyard village of Bušince.
